Peek inside: Our home office

Do you have a room in your house that you spend a lot of time in, but you never quite bother to make it a nice place to spend all that time in? You know, you just haven’t bothered bringing in all those little things that help make a room so much nicer?

While I love most of our home, my home office has been a little neglected since we moved in over a year ago. I have some rather grand plans for the room that are awhile off, but instead of making it a nice place to be in the meantime, I just set it aside as something I’ll sort out one day.

Well, one day has arrived and I am officially in love with my office – it’s looking seriously cute! The best part? All it took were a few small changes a $50 shopping spree with Mighty Ape.

After trawling the pages of Mighty Ape’s home and living section, and somehow managing to avoid adding a million Kate Spade things to my cart (yip, you read that right, they have Kate Spade!) I found three key pieces to help lift my sorry little workspace into a much happier place:

With my order arriving less than 24 hours after I placed it (seriously, how good is that?) I had no excuse not to get my home office in tip-top shape.

So after giving my desk a good clean and tidy up, I pulled together a collection of my favourite things and worked out what I really needed (and wanted) on my desk. Yip, it turns out I love pastels and gold!

After arranging a few of my favourite Happy Mail prints on the window sill alongside some pretty faux peonies, I stacked up my favourite magazines and books in a pile on the back of my desk – far enough away that they won’t be a distraction, but close enough that I can easily grab them for inspiration.

Then I scooped up all my pens and placed then in one of my favourite mugs (rather than scattering them on the desk, as usual) and arranged my new bits and pieces around them. And you know what? The white and gold paper bag is the perfect place to store all the beautiful cards and envelopes I’ve accumulated through Happy Mail – and it makes me so much happier having them out on display!

Now that my office is sorted, it’s time to tackle a much more disastrous room – the laundry/garage. Somehow I don’t think it will end up quite as pretty!

Mighty Ape provided me with a $50 voucher to give their service a try. All opinions are, and always will be, my own.
