Our American Adventures

After 28 days exploring the United States we’ve arrived back on New Zealand soil! It’s a little bittersweet – we had an absolutely amazing time and are sad the holiday’s over but it’s great to be back home! We landed in back in Auckland this morning and have spent much of the day working our way through those end of holiday chores – unpacking, washing, shopping… It’s been busy!

But we’re through the bulk of it now and finally have a moment to relax in the beautiful afternoon sunshine – and get a quick update ready for you all! Please forgive me if this post is a little rambling or packed with errors – blame it on the jet lag!

Over the course of our holiday we spent time in some amazing cities – New York, Orlando, Washington D.C., Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Each place was amazing in their own way and we had an absolute blast in each and every city we visited. I could easily write you a book on what we did (illustrated with over 4,000 photos!), but to save you that pain here’s a summary of our highlights, city-by-city.

Stop one: New York City

Experiencing snow in the Big Apple; Befriending squirrels; Feasting on pretzels; Shopping at Tiffany’s; Soaking up Christmas at 30 Rock; Falling in love with Broadway; Tasting famous treats at world famous bakeries; Exploring Central Park.

Spending a day at the happiest place on earth; Meeting childhood heroes; Getting a behind the scenes look at Paramount Studios; Seeing the cast of Glee; Watching the Lakers play; Hanging out at Newport Beach; Driving on the wrong side of the road!

Pretty cool huh? But now it’s time to begin looking forward, and I have some pretty cool things planned for you over the next year. I’ve returned from the US armed with inspiration, tools and enthusiasm and cannot wait to get back in the swing of things!

Want a clue? While we were away I had the opportunity to visit some amazing bakeries that I can’t wait to share with you over the coming weeks. If you’ve ever wanted to know what it’s really like the New York institutions Magnolia Bakery and Momofuku then keep your eyes peeled, I’ll have reviews popping up over the next week or so.

Hope you’ve been having an amazing summer!
