Handmade paper portraits

Back in January Kevin and I celebrated our first year of marriage with a wonderful day out playing tourist in our own city – we had lunch at our reception venue, stayed in a lovely hotel, treated ourselves to a beautiful dinner and finished the day with a slice of our wedding cake and a glass of our favourite champagne. It was perfect.

Having decided to stick with traditional anniversary gifts, we were busy in weeks leading up to our first anniversary as we brainstormed all kinds of paper-based gifts – art prints, photographs, notebooks… there were lots of ideas around, but none of them really clicked. Until I came across Brittani Rose Paper on Etsy.

The moment I saw the unbelievably detailed paper portraits Brittani creates I instantly knew one would be arriving on our doorstep – they are simply stunning. I quickly searched through our wedding photos, pulling out examples of the location, our clothing, flowers and special features, and placed an order.

Just weeks later the finished product arrived and looked even more incredible than I’d imagined. Brittani did a beautiful job capturing all the little details of the photos I’d sent her – from the beaded waist on my dress and floral headpiece in my hair, to the bouquet and Kevin’s boutonniere; everything was just perfect.

Once it’s been framed and hung, it’s going to make the most beautiful feature in our new home – but until then, it’s proudly on display in our lounge packaged away in a little plastic pouch. And a plastic pouch has never looked better!

Brittani was a delight to work with and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results. She does all kinds of stunning paper portraits, so if you’re looking for a special gift or memento then be sure to check her out on Etsy – I can’t recommend her highly enough.
